"My Lord is a Stone"《我家君王是石头》Chapter 41
Zhao Jin Yu entered the side hall, waiting until Zhao Rui
Zhi’s shadow could no longer be seen she couldn’t hold herself up and sat on
the floor, her so-called opulent and elegant appearance as merely her forcing
herself to be like that nothing else, she leaned against the carved screen
repeatedly breathing in, seeing this Chen Rong almost laughed, restraining it
with great difficulty, she gently said, “I heard just now someone went to pick
a fight with you, I rushed over, thinking I would see a weepy young lady, who
would have imagined to see an expert who spoke without beating around the
bushes, scolding indirectly.”
“Aunt Chen, don’t tease me.” Zhao Jin Yu took the tea Chen
Rong handed her, glugging it down, she felt the warm tea slide down her throat,
into her stomach, warming it up, then did she feel a little bit comfortable,
her face relaxed a bit, she said, “Someone came to bully me, if I didn’t fight
back, how would I have a standing in the Zhao family?” Zhao Jin Yu’s tone
lowered, looking far away outside the window to the swaying trees, apparently
thinking of something.
“You’re worried about your adoptive father?” Chen Rong said
good at understanding people.
Zhao Jin Yu nodded, to be frank Zhao Jin Yu was worried she
was useless, making her grandparents treat her as a girl who stayed at home,
not at all sophisticated, if they get slighted because they’re helping her
adoptive father, when that time comes it wouldn’t be good. It would only make
others think she was strongly opinionated, they would question her loyalty even
more.
“You’ve done well.” Chen Rong beamed, looking like she was
regarding a youngster she really liked, “Why did that Xiao Zhen Shan suddenly
come to find you? Did someone add fuel to the fire? We don’t have any
intentions to harm, but we are also not easy to bully, if someone punches you,
do you have to still endure it?”
Zhao Jin Yu was more or less comforted, she was just
wondering if she was too harsh on Xiao Zhen Shan? Was her words too blunt? However
now she still remembered Xiao Zhen Shan’s eyes in the end flashing with panic
and at a loss, as if his conviction had suddenly been shaken up. Evidently her
words had hit a nerve.
Anyways she thought Xiao Zhen Shan was too stupid, many
times he was a mere spectator acting as a confused player that’s all. Maybe she
was nothing more than the person who exposed the setup.
As for Zhao Rui Zhi…, she also had no bad intentions towards
Zhao Rui Zhi, if she can treat her sincerely, she would also respond with the
same sincerity, becoming good sisters, but this person however had been
planning against her from the start, her heart was somewhat ruthless.
Only when she waited to strike back today, seeing Zhao Rui
Zhi’s lonely appearance, she actually didn’t feel very happy, why should woman
make things difficult for woman? Could it be apart from fighting there was no
peaceful way for them to exist together?
Zhao Jin Yu had a lot on her mind, thinking she really
couldn’t cope with this complexity of interpersonal relationship, her heart
filled with a helpless feeling, it was just at this time a maid came over
calling for her to take care of the madam did she then get up, pushing Chen
Rong to go back, “Aunt Chen, don’t rush around following me, hurry and rest.”
Chen Rong nodded, saying, “Then pay attention to your health
more.”
When the madam saw Zhao Jin Yu enter, she couldn’t stop the
smile on her face, affectionately calling out, “Qing Luan, come quickly.”
Nanny Li standing by the madam’s side couldn’t help
think, when a person’s heart is bias it really is boundless, just now even
though because Zhao Rui Zhi was serving by her side she did not show her
impatience, but when she ate the white fungus soup the difference could clearly
be seen, she only ate two mouthful of Zhao Rui Zhi’s soup then stopped, when it
came to the white fungus soup Zhao Jin Yu made her eyes held a smile,
repeatedly praising it.
Nanny Li couldn’t resist thinking, it seems like the matter
of Xiao Zhen Shan going to confront Zhao Jin Yu could not be concealed. However
the madam had just gotten better, if she knew of this it would be hard for her
not to get angry, if she fell ill again what would happen? With such thoughts
she began to worry.
The old woman held Zhao Jin Yu’s hand talking for a while, she
only asked her where she went just now? What she did? If she ate at night? And
continuously said the white fungus soup she made was very tasty, an
affectionate smile across her face, clearly a parent who indulged children.
Zhao Jin Yu’s previous restlessness slowly disappeared with
the madam’s gentle voice, after she helped the madam freshen up and take her
medicine, after getting her into bed she softly said,
“Grandmother, I’ll return
first, Zhen Zhu will be on night duty tonight, if you don’t feel well by all
means tell her to get me.”
Truthfully the madam really didn’t want her to leave, it was
only because she was too broken-hearted that she couldn’t attend to Zhao Jin
Yu, hearing these words she said, “Good child, you’ve work hard these few days,
you only need to worry about resting today, grandmother already doesn’t have
any big problems, don’t worry about it.” That’s what she said, and actually
nodded very comfortably. It was clear she really like Zhao Jin Yu paying close
attention to her.
Zhao Jin Yu smiled saying, “Then I’ll go back grandmother.”
“Quickly go, quickly.” The madam said smiling.
Zhao Jin Yu again gave Zhen Zhu a few instructions before
leaving, it was cold outside, as soon as she stepped out she felt the cold air
flush her cheeks, she couldn’t help shudder, Cui Yu who had been waiting at the
side for a long time hurriedly gave her a peacock patterned with white fox fur
trim cloak, warmly saying, “Eldest young lady, put it on quickly so you’re not
cold.” Cui Yu’s meticulous actions, gentle and relaxed, but also very nimble,
in just a blink Zhao Jin Yu was wearing the cloak.
“Thank you.” Zhao Jin Yu couldn’t help sigh, sure enough Cui
Yu was the cleverest, just now Ma Nao who was standing by the side didn’t know
to give her a cloak.
Cui Yu’s eyes carried some hope, bowing she said, “This
servant ought to do it.”
Zhao Jin Yu however inwardly shook her head, only pretending
to not have seen Cui Yu’s hopeful gaze, she followed after Ma Nao’s lantern.
Waiting until Zhao Jin Yu’s back became a small shadow in
the dark, Cui Yu murmured in grievance,
“What’s great about her? She’s only a
country bumpkin, and she thinks she’s the eldest young lady of the Zhao
residence?”
At the side Zhen Zhu snorted, saying, “She is truly the
eldest young lady of the Zhao residence.”
After speaking she sneered twice
before going in, in her heart she thought, Cui Yu entered the residence a year
before she did, she always criticised her, with regards to the two of their methods,
their abilities were both almost on par, why must she bow before you? She was
not resigned that’s why she always endured it patiently, thinking she must find
a way to trip her up…, who knew the opportunity came so soon? Cui Yu was
usually very clever, how could she be so stupid right now, even if Zhao Jin Yu
was a country bumpkin who grew up in the countryside, but so long as she is
descended from the Zhao family then she is the eldest young lady of the Zhao
family, and could not be compared to the maids.
After Zhao Jin Yu left, the madam opened her eyes, to the nanny
Li at the side she said, “Do you think I’m old, that I’m confused about a lot
of things?”
Nanny Li heard the madam’s calm yet with a meaning
hidden under the night snow, she couldn’t help the cold sweat rushing forward.
